Chew on This: Everything You Don’t Want to Know about Fast Food

During the summer I have read a book that will amaze me for the rest of my life.  Chew on This: Everything You Don’t Want to Know about Fast Food, this book goes inside of the different food companies to show the reader what really happens and what actually goes into making your fast food.  They book starts out when a boy at a carnival mashes up meatballs and flattens them, he then throws them on the grill and starts to cook them. After that he takes two slices of bread and puts them on the bottom and top on the burger.  This was the start of one of the biggest most popular food in the entire world.

This book also explains the terrible and gruesome things that were done to these animals. Such animals like pigs, cows and chickens. These animals were tortured and killed for their meat.  The cow was one of the animals that had it the worst; the beef of these cows were not as sanitary as they were back in the 1930’s.  This controversy was hundreds and hundreds of people sick, many of them were dying from food related poison.  This book also takes you through the hard times in the fast food business, McDonalds for example was one of the fast food restaurants that took a hard turn then turned into the biggest fast food chain ever created.  By far this was one of my favorite books.
